As I am preparing to decorate the school for the next theme; I have come up with Red, White and Blue; and Fun Facts about the Statue of Liberty.
So here is what the kids will learn.
Her Birthday is October 28, and this year she will turn 123 years old.
She is 305 feet tall; from the ground to the tip of her torch.
There are 354 steps inside and 25 viewing windows in her crown.
Her official name is; "Liberty Enlightening the World".
She is recognized the world over as the symbol of Freedom and Democracy.
Her designer was French sculptor, Frederic Aguste Bartholdi and she was completely funded by the French people.
How great it is to live in America.
Remember your roots, remember the sacrifices made; for freedom isn't free.

Deserted Island................. Family Fun

If you can't water shoot your twin brother who can you shoot??
Twins sharing a special moment.
A deserted island; exploring, laying in the sun and having a picnic.
Normally the water is clear but with all the flooding the river water has spread out more into the sea.
A boat house........really a boathouse.
Ok, Time for your Friday Laugh.................

This is why you do not let men near the washing machine. He decides he's going to wash his bee suit and while doing so; he puts in the gloves. They are leather and red. Ta --- Ta --- Da --- Do you know what you get when you mix red leather gloves and a white bee suit together; a totally pink all over bee suit. That none of the guys will wear. HE HE HE..........
Your Welcome, hope you have a great weekend.
Sun in Fun ........... Air Show in Lakeland.

Hubby and brother went to see the airplanes and watch the old WWII planes do a simulated bomb drop. We are so fortunate to have never had a bomb drop in the US. Can you imagine fearing for your life or home every night while bombs drop around you. This is something that America has never had to face and with God's Help May We Never Have To. That's why Freedom isn't Free................

A Drop by visit....................................by my bubba.
I just wanted to update you on my bubba. That's my brother. If you read in one of my earlier blogs; his appendix ruptured and they did emergency surgery on him. His appendix had been ruptured for about a month. He went back to his Dr. on monday and he told him he was the 2nd worst case he had ever seen. He asked the Dr. what did it take to be number one and He replied SHE DIED. So, we just want tell momma that. He told him to still take it easy and not over do it because he wasn't sure that the stitches would hold. His said that his insides we're so infected he was scared that the tissue wouldn't hold the staples together. Then we would be talking major surgery; reconnecting intestines and such. We want tell momma that either. So, he said he felt better and the Dr. thought he was doing good. No fevers are a good sign.
My New Aprons........................ They are so Meeeeee

Check out my new apron. I ordered my new apron from " creations from my heart ". It is me. If you haven't guessed; red, white and blue are my favorite colors.
Thank you creations from my heart for my new apron.
I also have one to post from my cousin and friend; cherry checkers. Guess what colors it has in it. Yes, your correct; it would be red, white and blue. That will be in a new post. And thank you Teresa for that one; I love it. It is hanging in my kitchen.
Lolita is in the middle. She is a ceramic tile that I just had to have. Are you funny like me and name some of the things you like or use often. I had a car named "Jessie". My heating pad that I use on a regular basis is called "LeRoy". My husband gets jealous and says I spend more time with LeRoy.
Hope you all have a great weekend. If you are like me; I have so many things going on in the gardens. And it looks like everyone else is busy in the gardens also because some people that post several times a week; haven't posted in a few days.

Repurposing

I just love jars. I guess I am a "jar Head. When I seen these candles for sell for
.50, I just had to have them. Candles and jars, you just can't lose.
These jars here we're from jelly and cherries. If you we're having a party; adding a ribbon or strip piece of gingham check to the jar would add a nice touch.

Decorating to the side...............................

I know some like to decorate the middle of the table. I like to decorate the middle and a little side deocrating. Your favorite tea pot, flowers from your garden or a fruit and vegetable bowl. Possibilies are endless.
If you notice the table; it is made with cedar boards. The top boards are mirror boards. That term is used when both boards are identical but mirror images. The legs for my dining room table are tree limbs that my husband smoothed and attached. This table is to me beautiful. The trees came from my parents place and it was lovingly made by my husband.
Easy Enchas..........

Ok, I just love to find a recipe that is delicousoso and so easy. I stumbled across this as I was trying to combine two recipes. So, here she goes.
Easy Enchas.
9 x 9 pan
Tortilla wraps these were 10 in.
Cream of Chicken soup
11 oz. Can Southwestern corn
Small can of green chiles
Big Jar of Southwest Black bean and White Corn Salsa
5 cheese blend.
I used about 8 chicken drummies; already cooked and deboned them.
Take deboned Chicken; mix with cream of chicken soup, green chiles and southwestern corn.
In your 9 x 9 pan; (I didn't grease it) . Lay out a tortilla; then add your chicken mixture. On top on the chicken mixture add about 3/4 cup of salsa; on top of salsa add about 1/2 cup of cheese. Repeat layer til it fills pan. I only had two layers.
Bake in a 375 oven for about 30 minutes. Start checking around 25 to make sure bottom want burn.
This was delicous.
Hope you enjoy
Flowers are Sweet

I received a sweet package from my friend/cuz a week or so ago and in it was these sweet flowers. So, this little garden we will name "Teresa's Garden".
She is such a talented thing with her sewing and upholstery. She gets her talent from my husband's Granny and hers. When Granny gets to heaven she will probably make new choir robes for all the angels in heaven.
you can catch her at cherrycheckers here on my blog.
Computer Guru coming to help............................
While trying to download a new computer program, I think I deleted something that shouldn't have. So, I'm calling Mike to see if he can help me.
I am not able to post pictures or even to hear music.
So, tis my fault.....................
When I do get up and running, I will have lots to post about; from flowers to aprons.

God takes care of us even when we don't know it...
How many times have we been come through a problem or time in our lives and wonder; how did I do that?
My brother has had stomach problems for several weeks. Sunday at Mom's he wasn't feeling up to being out and about. So last night at 9:30 they found the problem. His appendix had ruptured. Now get this; it had ruptured the Dr. thinks about a month ago and his body portioned off the gangrene; yes, I said gangrene and was keeping the infection from spreading. They waterhosed him out and hopefully they have removed all the infection. I can't believe he hasn't went into septic shock.
So, when you hear that your back has to ache to have appenditis; don't believe it. His Dr. he went to see thought he had a bacteria in his stomach; well he did but it was because his appendix had ruptured. The only way to find this kind was with a MRI.
Just please pray that they removed all the infection.

A Piece for my new collection..............
I haven't changed my grrrly room in a few weeks because I have awaiting the arrival of the above dress. It is a find from e-bay for $ 12.00 a beautiful blue daisy dress. This is a piece for my collection. I have a flapper dress with rhinestone straps, a red Marilyn Monroe dress ( hers was white )and know a blue chiffon dress with rows of daisy lace. This will hang in my grrly room and I stage the room like she is packing for a trip that will take her to balls and parties with gloves and pocketbooks.
Isn't it funny how most people have more money than they did years ago; but yet we do not dress as well as in the years gone by. In all the movie the 50's and 60's; all the men are in day suits and the women in dresses, hats and gloves. O'w to have lived back when being a man was fine and wearing all the ladies finery was grand.

Calling All Scarlets...................................
I just happen to come across this and thought, that would be fun. This is the 70th year of the movie " Gone With The Wind". TCM is hosting a showing in Atlanta on the movie. Log on tohttp://www.foxtheatre.org/coke_series.htm to see all the excitement.
And if you are not going to be able to attend, like me; how about hosting your own showing of the movie. You could have a party and invite all of your friends. So, Frankly my Dear, I think it's a great idea...................
If you think you are going to host a party; leave me a comment about all your wonderful ideas. I will try to hold my own; as soon as I find out about the baseball schedule.
Did you know.....................
This is Gary Cooper playing the role as Sgt. York who was a decorated WWI soldier. You can go on to TCM.com and download free pictures. They change the pictures monthly.I love old movies and if you get the chance watch this movie. It shows how the war affected even the mountain people back in the hills. It is a true story of a HERO.

Azaleas in the South and The Guggie Bum Gang
Saturday at Mom's this Azalea bush was so full of blooms. It is truely beautiful. Mom doesn't think you have a picture unless you have people in it. Here you have my twins and my great nephew and great niece. They enjoy each other so much.
When you have twins you don't just zip down to the store to get gas or milk. You wait until hubby comes home and go. So my children didn't know what gum or candy was until they we're around 3 years old. When they did get gum they would call it guggie bum. Instead of bubble gum. So we named them the guggie bum gang.

Recently I was asked what I liked.................
So here are a few things I love; bottles, funny containers, red, strawberries, western nostalgia, stars, stipes and America;
Marilyn Monroe is the middle on the star. I can't throw away a vanilla bottle. The old spoon is a treasure from the Old Milk Barn out back. My boys found it while digging in the dirt.
I made the strawberries in the green container.
This flag is a gift fromy brother in-law to my husband. It has flown over the Arizona in Pearl Harbour on Dec. 6th.
A sign on the boys bathroom. I'm still decorating it.

We just love Uncle Remus from the Briar Rabbit movie made from Disney. It was banned a few years ago because it had slavery in it. What I take away from the movie is how the older black men taught the children how to work and the workings of the farm. I love Uncle Remus's kind spirit.

This is in the boys bathroom. Randolph Scott on the right is one of my favorite western cowboys. And of course who doesn't know who is on the left.
Making Jam and a nifty funnel...........
